Dear Beautiful,

I am writing to you because it feels important and I wanted to remind you of simple truths. This is also a letter to myself, because it is all things I need to continually remember.  If you are in your twenties/early thirties and single this is for you.

It seems as though the central conversation surrounding us in this stage of our lives is how we are not married, potentially not dating, and definitely don’t have kids. As we scroll through our Facebook feed, attend our friends weddings, reunions, celebrate holidays with our families  – our singleness is very present and feels as though it’s yelling at us. Mine is made very clear by sweet younger sister who only continues to remind me I have “zero boyfriend”  as she counts off the present state of relationships in our group of five sisters. [#istilladoreher] Somewhere along the line all of the brave, beautifully adventurous things we’ve done to seek our fullest selves have become a source of our greatest sense of inadequacy. Blog posts, videos, articles, books,  and songs are all floating around our social media amplifying this very real chipping away of our self worth. I have had countless conversations over the past six months about this chapter of life, with no real answer to the big questions.

But, today I want to remind you of something. Please hear me.

You are beautiful.

You are worthy of the most extraordinary love

The choices you made along the way have undoubtedly shaped your life journey and altered the landscape of your story- but they were yours and they weren’t wrong. They were just different.

That leap of faith you took to travel the country/world, pursue a new job, get your Masters, be an activist/artist/dreamer/game-changer are all the things that make you uniquely you.

Your story is beautiful and so full of the most dynamic experiences and community.

Your intelligence is part of your beauty.

Don’t settle.

I am awestruck everyday by the amount of beautiful, creative, strong women that make up my community. Many of who are single and have the most amazing strength and depth.  Ladies, I believe that love will find you, and find me. In the meantime let us live with the greatest intention of challenging ourselves to dive deeper into our own adventures, grant ourselves grace and stay present in the moment before us.

Also, read the Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo. It’s magic wrapped in words that sings directly to your soul.

I will end with this quote and a wish for you that this moment and person finds you, but that in the meantime, you keep living your beautiful life fully alive.

“Because, when you know that language, it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, ones dreams would have no meaning.” Paulo Cohelo.
